In measure 35 I have added an ossia (an alternative passage) which I usually play instead of the original passage.
This is a difficult to master work due to its length and atmosphere of solitude.
Study in sections : e.g. measures 1 to 22, 23 to 41, 42 to 59, 60 to the end.
Try to learn the difficult parts and position changes first.
After you feel that you have learn the score, apply your dynamics (tempo, ritartandos, crescendos and diminuetos)
Everyone learns in a different way, so follow the route that works better for you.
- This piece is one of Beethoven's most popular compositions, and it was a popular favorite even in his own day. Beethoven wrote the Moonlight Sonata in his early thirties.
- In Man and His Music: The story of Musical Experience in the West vol.3 The Sonata principle Wilfrid Mellors (musicologist, 1914-2008), notes that Beethoven composed the 'Moonlight Sonata' around the same time the he first became aware of his developing condition (deafness).
